UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann has been taken off administrative leave from White Bear Lake High School in White Bear Lake, Minnesota after he made comments about how President Barack Obama needed a "glassectomy."
Volkmann serves as a high school wrestling coach there. Even though he has been taken off leave, now the rules are stricter and they have issued rules relating to his actions and comments in the UFC. He made some comments about the situation. Check out the highlights:
On what he said: "You can't call people idiots over the media and stuff like that."
On not taking legal action regarding his suspension: "I'll keep doing my thing, but it's probably going to make me delay answering my questions for a split second, just to make sure that I'm not going say something stupid. But it's not going to affect what the meaning is or what I'm going to say."
On reconsidering his interview style: "I don't think it's necessary. It's kind of like beating a dead horse; the whole subject is done. I just hope someone else gets elected. The fact that I was gone for four weeks in the most important time of the season – that was the hardest part. But timing is everything, I guess."
On his next fight: "I'm playing text-tag with (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva, trying to find out who to fight next and when. People I keep calling out keep getting fights, so I'm not going to call anybody out. I hear a lot of people want me to fight (Evan) Dunham. That would be a fun fight."
