Jones vs Henderson Targeted For September 1

Jon Jones vs Dan Henderson is being targeted for a possible September 1st date at UFC 151, during Labor Day weekend.

Labar Day is September 3. If UFC 151 happens two days before, it will be three weeks after UFC 150 in Denver and three weeks before UFC 151 in Toronto.

White said at at press conference last month that the fight was a possibility for UFC 149 on July 21 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. White changed his mind earlier this week and said the fight will happen later, probably to give Jones rest after his busy 2011 and early 2012.

Jones defeated Rashad Evans to keep his UFC light-heavweight title at UFC 145 two weeks ago on April 21. It was his seventh straight win and fourth straight win over a former UFC defense. It was his third defense overall. Henderson is currently on a 7-1 run with fights at at middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight. He's defeated Fedor Emelianenko (as a heavyweight) in Strikeforce and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 139 (which was called a "Fight of the Year").
