Matt Serra recently spoke with MMAjunkie about his time off from the UFC and more. Check out the highlights:
On being willing to come back to fight Matt Hughes: "If they did a thing in New York, I think that would be a big motivator. I could wake up tomorrow and feel totally different. We play it by ear."
On Hughes: "I don't want to bring up the whole Matt Hughes thing again, but to be honest I'm not a big fan of that guy. Who does like that guy? I'd take that fight in a heartbeat. But I don't think he's going to be around any longer. I don't know what's going on with that guy."
On what it would take to get him back into training for a fight: "I talked about this with B.J. Penn before, who's another old-school guy like me. He's been around a while and he's got a lot of big fights, he's got two little girls like myself. And you just don't want to take a fight to take a fight. You want to be passionate about it. I've been in fights with B.J. Penn to (Georges St-Pierre) to Matt Hughes, so if I'm going to fight just some little tough kid, it's awesome, but it's probably going to be more awesome to him. So it's not that I'm against it. Sometimes I'm in the grind of running my schools and dealing with my kids, I get that itch again. But if they did a thing in New York, I think that would be a big motivator."
