VIDEO: Cormier Discusses Facing Mir

Daniel Cormier spoke with MMAJunkie Radio about the upcoming Strikeforce event that is planned for late October, and how Frank Mir has come onboard to face him in the headlining bout. Here are some highlights:

On UFC's Frank Mir coming to headline a Strikeforce event: "This, to me, is bigger than just this fight. It shows that the executives at Zuffa – Dana (White), Lorenzo (Fertitta), Sean Shelby and Joe Silva – are able to work in a way with Showtime where they can start to make these types of fights."

On being ready to fight any opponent: "I don't care who I fight. I'm a professional. I have to take every guy and train for them just as I trained to fight (Josh) Barnett or (Antonio) 'Bigfoot' Silva. I have to prepare for those guys in the same exact way no matter who's in front of me. It's not my job to choose who I'm going to fight. I'll fight whoever they put out there. It's going to be three years (I've been pro) in August, so I can't pick and choose. I've just got to get in where I can fit in."

On the impact that Mir coming to Strikeforce should have: "It can springboard to so many other things. Because now, it's there. That pipeline has been broken; guys can come over from the UFC and fight in Strikeforce. So I think it should excite everybody. All the Strikeforce fighters should be pretty pumped up about this right now."
